This program was designed to make S.T.E.M. fun and affordable for Little Dreamers! Last year blew every expectation I had out of the water!!! The children were engaged in hands on learning every week. We extracted DNA from strawberries, built structures to weather Hurricanes, got to meet terrapins, built our own video game, dug for dinosaurs and learned about the different states of matter… and so much more. It was an absolute delight watching children shine with pride as their parent went full NERD teaching the coolest lessons ever.

We require each family to teach 2 lessons for the academic year. You are required to provide all materials for the class. Alexis is available for any guidance you may need if you are nervous about your lesson. We also bring in outside programs such as the wonderful Maryland Coastal Bays Project, NASA and the Maryland Environmental Service.

Art History with Alexis

During this class, students will study art masters and learn to copy their technique to create their own masterpieces. Unlike in writing and in literature, great artists through time have learned to hone their own style by copying the artists who have come before them and adding their own personal touch. Students will get a sense of what inspired the greatest artists in history while also learning what really drives the art world. Why are some artists popular and others fade away? What inspired Picasso’s Blue Period? How did Monet capture light? Why is Henri Toulouse-Lautrec considered the father of Graphic Design?

In the Spring, a field trip (Date and time TBA) to Washington DC for all students of Alexis’ Art History Course will take place. During this trip we will attend the Cherry Blossom Festival and paint Cherry Blossoms. Students will be able to experience a breath taking Plein Air event by going out into the field to paint the blossoms. If you have not seen the Cherry Blossoms in D.C., it is something you will never forget. We will have a chance to visit the National Gallery of Art and students are invited to bring their sketch books as view the works we have studied through the year in person. It is my intention to fully fund this trip through fundraising. We will meet in the early fall to begin planning. The date around this trip will center around when the blossoms are estimated to bloom.

This class will run in 2 sessions. September to December and January to May. Students from either session will be invited to the trip.

Little Dreamers Homeschool

Little Dreamers Homeschool

is a secular all inclusive program focusing on child led learning. We are heading into our second year and thriving. It was my dream to design a program where children felt comfortable enough to learn while having fun. I am currently homeschooling my children and believe we are so lucky to have such a supportive and awesome homeschool community here in Worcester County.

We have a Private Facebook Group for current families enrolled in our program. We share pictures from lessons and articles and events relating to our studies. It is a total joy watching the children and families bond over the school year. We are a tight knit group of people who love learning! In order to promote the feeling of community we do ask that you intend to commit to the full academic year when you register for our program.
